Kanchi, also known as Kanchipuram, holds a special place among the Moksapuris, the cities believed to bestow liberation from the cycle of births and deaths. Revered by devotees of Shiva, Vishnu, and Shakti, Kanchi is often referred to as the Southern Mokshapuri. According to ancient scriptures, the city’s origin is linked to Brahma’s worship, and its significance is emphasized by the birth of the revered poet-saint, Poigai Alvar, who composed the profound ‘Mutal Tiruvantati’ pasuram.
